Water Heater Problems
I had quite a lot of things planned for today, including hitting the gym. My plans for the day were dashed as soon as I took a shower this morning. No hot water. Dammit! My hot water heater died and I had to spend much of the day replacing a heating element and cleaning up the mess the water left. What a day… The water seems to be nice and warm now, but I haven’t taken a shower since this morning’s freezing-cold one. The replaced element won’t last for long, but it’ll save me some money until I have to replace the entire water heater in a few months… just in time for winter. π
Dead water heaters aren’t fun π
We rent our water heater from the gas company. If anything goes wrong, they install a new one the same day.
There are tankless water heaters now. I wonder how long those would last. It would be nice to never run out of hot water… but I guess the showers I take are too long already π
I’ve always been curious about how long tankless water heaters last. To be able to heat up water that quickly, I would think that those styles of heaters use a lot of energy.
The tankless ones are supposed to be on-demand. They have a tiny reservoir. Then, once the burner is up to temp, the water is heated as it passes through. That’s my understanding how it works. I’m not sure on reliability, though.
