My Recent Buy.com Purchase Experience
One of several recent DVD purchases I made from Buy.com. I’ve bought several things from them in the past, primarily DVDs and books. Well one of the DVDs in a recent order seemed to be out of stock (according to the order status). After a few days went by, I received an email from Buy.com stating they had to cancel that portion of the order because their supplier couldn’t provide them with the DVD anymore.
Fine, I understand. Maybe it would take longer or something and they didn’t want to leave me hanging for a few weeks or something. When I looked at the product page for the item, it was in stock. Dammit!
When I made the order, the particular DVD was on sale, for about $20 lower than it was normally. In my opinion, it looks like they must have met some sort of sale quota for the particular DVD and they weren’t willing to honor anymore sales beyond that quota. Although I got a refund for that item, I’m still pissed. If you don’t have the item, say so. When I ordered it, it was in stock according to the product page.
I’m more hesitant to buy things from Buy.com. I’ve never run into this problem with other e-tailers.
Ah, glowing indeed. I agree with you. If it’s not in stock, don’t say it is. I’ve never had a problem with Amazon or Suncoast. Those are two places I’ve bought DVDs from without problems. And, to be honest, I’ve bought a lot of stuff from Amazon. Only once did I run into an instance where it was going to take a long time to get something–but, I was told up front, so it wasn’t an issue. Hmm…Buy.com seems iffy, I agree. I wonder how Overstock.com is?
I’ve only ordered from Overstock once or twice but everything went just fine.
